Holder

• Role: Stores and manages the VCs in a secure digital wallet.

• Focus: Privacy, control, and selective disclosure of your identity data.

The Holder is an individual or entity that possesses and controls their digital identity (verifiable credentials issued to them by issuers) within the SSI system. They have the following capabilities:

• Create and Manage DID: Establish a Decentralized Identifier (DID) that acts as their unique identifier within the system.

• Request Credentials: Request verifiable credentials from Issuers that represent their qualifications, achievements, or affiliations.

• Store Credentials: Securely store their issued credentials within a digital wallet.

• Present Credentials Selectively: Share specific attributes from their credentials with Verifiers without revealing unnecessary information.

• Maintain Privacy: Control what information they share with different entities within the ecosystem. They have the ability to selectively disclose their credentials to verifiers based on specific requests or contexts, enabling them to assert their identity and qualifications while maintaining control over their personal data (PII).
